Goodlux and Stream created Sunsprite, a personal light tracker powered by the sun. It tracks both visible and UV light to improve energy, mood, and focus, regulate your sleep cycle, and monitor UV exposure. It syncs with your smartphone so you can track your progress, view your stats, and get personalized goals and tips.

The soft pebble-like form contrasts with the high tech materials to create an intimate and modern keepsake. SunSprite is easily attached anywhere on your clothing with the rubber clasp, or even worn as a pendant. The progress lights are displayed like a meter, able to be read in any orientation.

Our user research drove every aspect of the development process. It allowed us to create a form that appeals to men and women, young and old. It informed how best to display the light and how often users wanted to change the battery- giving the electrical engineers direction for the pcb design and optimal power consumption of the custom battery.

We developed and tested over 100 functional prototypes in order to make sure it was easy to use, including magnets and rubber that had the right tactile feel for a positive clip action through a t-shirt or winter coat. We researched materials for a lens that had superior light transmission but also was durable enough to survive dropping it onto pavement. We designed a custom actuator for the switch that was a large leaf spring so it had just the right feel.

We incorporated all electrical and mechanical components into this tiny assembly and optimized the case for manufacturing. We maintained design intent through prototypes and to injection molded production, using our proven and tested network of US vendors and resolving any issues as needed.
