The System Control Unit is the computer for the AMP™ 3D Imager. Faro needed a rugged product that could sit on the production floor and withstand inevitable kicks and banging.  It also had to reinforce the visual language established with the AMP.

The internal components are protected with rubber bumpers attached to urethane castings on either end that also form the feet.  A large handle on top connects the bumpers, creating an isolation mount system to protect the electrical components. The front and rear assemblies are the same parts, driving down cost by increasing volume. We created a custom bent sheet metal housing and mounted all components. The rubber bumpers use curved triangular shapes that echo those on the AMP, maintaining the visual brand equity. 

BUSINESS IMPACT

Since the AMP's introduction, it is maintaining FARO's leadership position in the 3D measuring and imaging market. Customer satisfaction is high, and the worldwide sales team is very positive.
